  5. South Georgia is an island in the south Atlantic Ocean and is a part of the British crown colony the Falkland Islands.
  6. It is partially covered by glaciers and the highest peak reaches 2915 m.a.s.l.
  7. There is an arctic scientific station in the island.
  8. South Georgia was formerly a base for Arctic whalers. Now it is uninhabited.
  9. The South Sandwich Islands are an archipelago in the southern Atlantic Ocean with slightly more than ten islands and is a part of the British crown colony of the Falkland Islands.
  10. The biggest island, Montagu, have the groups highest peak, Mount Belinda, reaching 1372 m.a.s.l. The islands are uninhabited.
  11. All islands are of volcanic origin and there are still active volcanoes.
